Fort William Building Courtyard
Description / Named for the colonial military fort that once stood nearby, the uniquely-shaped courtyard of the Fort William Building in downtown St. John’s was beginning to show its age and posed recurring maintenance challenges. The goal was to improve this condition while updating the space to better appeal to the younger demographic currently working in the building. The final design aimed to be adaptive and flexible with multiple seating options and multipurpose space for small groups. A relocated time capsule and a strolling garden incorporating existing mature Douglas Fir trees provides a unique urban garden setting and celebrates the site's connection with its past. Construction is scheduled to begin during summer of 2018.
